Professional Development Committee

Purpose

The purpose of the Professional Development Committee is to promote quality professional development and engagement for full-time and adjunct faculty at Florida SouthWestern State College.

The function of the Professional Development Committee is to advise the Associate Dean of the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence on faculty professional development needs and collaborate with the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence staff to promote and provide quality professional development opportunities for full-time and adjunct faculty. The committee responsibilities include:

1. Supporting travel to quality professional development opportunities. 2. Enhancing quality professional development activities at FSW. 3. Recognizing participation in professional development opportunities.

Chair and Membership Information

The Professional Development Committee Chair is elected by the ranks of the committee and approved by the VPPA’s office. The chair will serve for two years and may be elected for additional terms. The chair is expected to remain on the committee for a minimum of one year after the end of the term (COP 03-0403).

Faculty may serve a minimum of three (3) years on a standing committee and may be reappointed to serve additional three (3) year terms. Faculty wishing to serve on the committee will do so with the approval of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee and the VPAA’s office. The committee will have no more than three non-faculty members selected by the VPAA to serve a three-year term, renewable at the discretion of the VPAA (COP 03-0403).
